Why do I take photos?
It’s simple. A good photograph has the power to show someone how the world sees them. It has the power to show someone the beauty, joy, and life inside them. I take photos so that people have a way to see themselves through the same lens that I see them- so I can hold a mirror up to them and show them just how beautiful they are. I take photos because I love my subjects and want them to have a way to love themselves, too.
When friends and family first began to ask me to take photos for them over a decade ago, I always tried to refuse payment. When my loving clients insisted, I created a model where I requested that the money they would have paid me be given to charity instead. For several years, I never took a penny for my photography.
To honor that original vision, 50% of every photo session is still donated to charity. When you book a session with me, you can know that half of that money will go directly to your choice of Mary’s Shelter or The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
